2020: Drew Gilin played in five games, including two starts at third base, before the season was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic • Went 2-for-10 with one run scored and two RBIs on the season • In the season opener at Baylor on Feb. 14, he tallied one run and one RBI as part of a 1-for-4 day • Drove in one run during a 1-for-2 performance at Baylor on Feb. 16.
2019: Gilin played in eight games, including one start, during his first year at Nebraska • Went 1-for-10 in limited at-bats • Managed his first career hit on Feb. 17 at UC Riverside.
Before Nebraska: Gilin prepped at Millard South under Coach Greg Geary • Helped the Patriots to two runner-up finishes at the state tournament • Batted .358 with four home runs, 32 RBIs and 27 runs scored with a .504 on-base percentage • Earned first-team all-state honors from the Omaha World-Herald and Super-State honors from the Lincoln Journal Star in 2017 and 2018 • Also earned four letters in basketball • Has been coached by former Huskers Blake Headley (2012-15) and Ty Kildow (2012-14) • Played summer ball for the Millard South P52’s under Coach Greg Geary, compiling a .404 batting average with two home runs, 39 RBIs and 37 runs scored.
Personal: Born on June 18, 1999 • Parents are Jim and Jeana Gilin • Has two sisters, Ally and Jenn • Nutrition and health sciences major who earned his bachelor's degree from Nebraska in May of 2022.
