2010: Cade Thompson provided the Huskers with a valuable left-handed bat at first base, DH or in the outfield, hitting .315 with three homers and 11 RBIs in 39 games • Served as NU's primary pinch hitter against right-handers, going 4-for-11 with two doubles and a homer in that role • Enjoyed the best game of his career on senior day, posting a 4-for-4 afternoon and scored twice in Nebraska's 8-7 victory over Texas Tech on May 23 • Had a pinch-hit single against Creighton on May 18 • Hit safely in all three games at Missouri, going 3-for-10 in three starts • Provided all of the offense in NU's 1-0 win over Texas A&M on May 2 with a second-inning homer, as he went 2-for-3 on the day and hit .375 in three games vs. the Aggies • Went 3-for-8 against Kansas, with two walks and three runs scored, all coming in NU's 11-7 win on April 16 • Was 1-for-3 with a pair of walks in the win over Wichita State on April 13 • Drove in a career-high three RBIs with a homer and two sac flies at No. 20 Kansas State on April 10 • Started in left field against Creighton, going 2-for-3 with a walk and an RBI • Delivered an RBI double in a pinch-hit appearance at Oklahoma State on April 4 • Came off the bench to go 2-for-3 with a two-run pinch-hit homer against North Dakota on March 30 before going 0-for-2 with a walk the following day • Started in left field against No. 12 Oklahoma on March 27, going 1-for-4 with a double • Was 0-for-1 and was hit by a pitch at No. 2 Texas on March 20 before leaving the game with a hand injury, as he bare-handed a line drive at first base and recorded the out • Saw action in all three games against Houston Baptist, going 2-for-4, including a pinch-hit double in the nightcap on March 13 • Picked up his first multi-hit game of 2010 against Elon on Feb. 28, going 2-for-4 with an RBI single in NU's 5-3 victory

2009: Thompson played a valuable reserve role in his first season at Nebraska, backing up All-Big 12 performer Tyler Farst at first base • Saw action in 26 games, hitting .217 with a homer and three RBIs • Was the Huskers' top pinch hitter, with three pinch hits, including a 12th-inning RBI single against Creighton at Rosenblatt Stadium on April 21 • Enjoyed his best performance of 2009 against Cal State Bakersfield on May 9, going 3-for-4 with a run scored, as he put together his first multi-hit game of the season • Had just 13 at-bats in Big 12 play, hitting .130, with all three hits going for extra base hits • Went 2-for-6 with a pair of doubles in three appearances against Kansas • Came off the bench to deliver a 12th inning RBI single against Creighton on April 21 • Made a start in the series finale versus No. 9 Texas on April 11, going 1-for-4 with a double • Belted his first homer of the year against Cal State Northridge in the nightcap on March 7, his only hit in six at-bats against the Matadors • Came off the bench to go 1-for-2 with a run scored against South Dakota State on March 4• Went 1-for-2 with an RBI and two walks in a start against Missouri State on Feb. 27.

Before Nebraska: Thompson played his junior college ball for Coach Jon Wente at Central Arizona College • Helped his team to a 46-22 record and a third-place finish at the 2008 NJCAA World Series in Grand Junction, Colo. • Hit .318 with a homer, 47 RBIs and 49 runs scored in the wood-bat league, while also fielding at a .990 clip with over 450 chances • Hit .400 in the NJCAA World Series, highlighted by a 4-for-6 effort with five RBIs and three runs scored in a 28-19 win over Iowa Western CC • Keyed a defense that helped set a team NJCAA all-time fielding record of .977 in 2008 • Spent the summer playing for the Seattle Studs, helping the squad to a 50-11 record and a runner-up finish at the NBC World Series in Wichita, Kan. • Led the squad in 2007 with a .356 average and 31 RBIs, while scoring 43 runs en route to earning NJCAA All-Region 1 and all-conference honors • Selected to the Arizona Sophomore All-Star game in 2007 • Played three seasons at Eatonville (Wash.) High School for Coach Mike Moeller, earning all-state, all-class accolades as a senior • Chosen for the Perfect Game World Wood Bat Champion All-Star Game in 2005.
