Compiled a 5-3 record with a 3.96 ERA, as he topped all pitchers in the state with 70 strikeouts to earn honorable-mention all-state accolades ? Rated by Baseball America as the No. 3 high school prospect in Nebraska for the 2006 MLB Draft ? Turned in a solid summer playing American Legion baseball by going 5-1 with a 4.00 ERA, striking out 61 over 52.2 innings ?
