Drafted in the seventh round of the 2024 MLB Draft with the No. 221 overall selection by the Atlanta Braves. • Tabbed a unanimous second-team All-American by D1Baseball, Baseball America, ABCA/Rawlings, NCBWA and Perfect Game. • Earned second-team academic All-American accolades, becoming the first NU baseball player to be an Academic All-American since 2016. • Received first-team all-region honors and named District 6 Player of the Year. • Was the Big Ten’s Pitcher of the Year and First-Team All-Big Ten selection. • Named a semifinalist for the Dick Howser Trophy and National Pitcher of the Year. • Posted a 9-1 record with a 2.16 ERA and 101 strikeouts in 104 innings. • Limited opposing hitters to a .191 hitting clip. • Finished fourth nationally with a 0.88 WHIP, fifth in ERA (2.16), 19th in strikeout-to-walk ratio (5.32), 20th in hits allowed/9 inn. Made 11 relief appearances in debut season at Nebraska. • Posted a 5.29 ERA. • Totaled 23 strikeouts in 17 innings. • Pitched a season-high four innings against South Dakota State, followed by three-inning outing vs. North Dakota State and 2.2 innings at Iowa. • Had six outings with multiple strikeouts, highlighted by a seven-strikeout performance vs. South Dakota State. • Posted four strikeouts against North Dakota State.
Iowa Central CC
Brett Sears joins the Huskers after playing two seasons at Western Illinois and one year at Iowa Central CC. • Earned NJCAA Division 2 Third Team All-American recognition at Iowa Central in 2022. • Tallied an 11-3 record with six complete-games in 14 starts. • Recorded a 3.06 ERA with 114 strikeouts in 85.1 innings of work. • Had seven outings of at least eight strikeouts, including a season-high 18 strikeouts in seven innings at Moraine Valley CC.
Western Illinois
Appeared in 11 games at WIU, making 10 starts. • Posted a 2-5 record and a 6.84 ERA with one complete-game. • Totaled 31 strikeouts in 50 innings. • Had three outings of at least six innings with the Leathernecks.

Born on May 2, 2000. • Parents are Chad and Janelle Sears. • Has two brothers, Dillon and Cade. • Brother, Dillon, played baseball for five seasons at Western Illinois in 2018-22. • Majoring in human development and family science.
