2007 Outlook: Junior left-hander Jon Klausing is one of the most versatile pitchers on the Husker staff ? Showed the ability to both start and work in relief during the 2006 season, serving as the Huskers’ midweek starter for the second half of the season ? 2006: Klausing was utilized in several roles on the Husker staff in 2006, working out of the bullpen and as a mid-week starter ? Compiled a 4-2 record with a 3.65 ERA over 24.2 innings ? Was one of NU’s best pitchers during one stretch, going 4-1 with a 0.50 ERA in five appearances from March 15 to May 10 ? Retired 23 consecutive batters over a two-appearance span in mid-April, and did not allow a hit for 9.1 consecutive innings ? Enjoyed the best performance of his career against Wichita State on April 25, scattering one hit over seven innings, as he retired the first 14 batters he faced and took a no-hitter into the seventh ? Fired three innings of one-hit ball to earn a win against Nebraska-Kearney on April 19 ? Turned in a clutch performance at Iowa on April 11, tossing four innings of one-hit ball for the win in a 13-inning victory ? Took the loss against Northern Iowa, allowing one run over four innings ? Started the Huskers’ Big 12 title game against Kansas on May 28, allowing a season-high four runs over 2.1 innings to take the loss.

2005: Klausing pitched twice before a bad back forced him to the sideline and required a medical hardship ? Did not allow a run in 2.2 innings, including two innings of no-hit relief at Hawaii-Hilo on Feb. 20 ? Fired 0.2 shutout innings vs. No. 18 USC on March 6.

2004: Klausing went 1-0 with a 4.30 ERA in 11 appearances, covering 29.1 innings ? Held opponents to a .250 average and allowed three runs or less in 10 of his 11 outings ? Made a trio of mid-week starts, earning his first career win against UNI on May 12, fanning five over six frames against the Panthers ? Enjoyed his best start of the year against Northern Colorado on April 27, allowing three runs on seven hits over a season-high seven innings ? Recorded his first career save against Western Illinois on March 17, allowing one hit over four innings ? Used exclusively out of the bullpen in Big 12 action, as he did not allow a run in six innings ? Tossed 2.1 innings of shutout relief against Kansas on March 28.

Pomona High School: Klausing was one of the top pitchers in the Rocky Mountain Region, pitching for Coach E.J. Mapps at Pomona High School ? Selected a first-team high school All-American by Collegiate Baseball and was named the Colorado High School Pitcher of the Year by the Rocky Mountain News ? Turned in an impressive senior campaign, going 11-1 with a 1.44 ERA, while tossing 11 complete games to earn first-team all-state honors from the Denver Post and Rocky Mountain News ? Struck out 103 over 92 innings, while striking out 10 or more on four occasions ? Spurred Pomona’s state title run, going 4-0 with a save in 28 innings to earn tournament MVP honors ? Helped Pomona to a No. 23 national ranking in USA Today ? Tossed a complete game with 10 strikeouts in a 2-1 win over Regis High School in the championship game, after beating Regis earlier in the double-elimination tournament with a 10-strikeout effort ? Lettered in basketball in addition to his baseball exploits ?  Earned two academic letters while carrying a 3.8 GPA at Pomona High School ? Chose Nebraska over a host of schools, including Southern California, Arizona, Arkansas, Stanford, San Diego and Evansville.
