2008: Johnny Dorn went 6-2 with a 2.45 ERA in 14 starts, ranking second in the Big 12 with 102 strikeouts and ranking in the top five of the conference in opponent batting average (.214, five), innings pitched (106.1, third) and ERA (fifth) ? Compiled a 37-10 career record, a win total that leads all active Division I pitchers, while ranking among school leaders in strikeouts (298, second), innings pitched (386.2, second) and starts (58, second) ? Allowed three runs or less in 13 of his 15 starts and pitched into the sixth in all 15 starts in 2008 ? 2007: Dorn was a mainstay in the Husker rotation, going 10-3 with a 5.23 ERA in a team-high 16 starts ? Ranked fourth in the Big 12 in wins while posting a 71-to-38 strikeout-to-walk ratio over 93 innings ? Shined in the NCAA Tempe Regional against No. 14 UC Riverside on June 3, tossing a complete-game five hitter in an 11-1 win, establishing a career high with 12 strikeouts ? Went 6-1 in nine conference starts, finishing third in the league in wins in Big 12 play ? Earned a hard-fought win against Baylor on May 12, allowing four runs on eight hits over five innings in a 10-4 win ? Pitched well in a no-decision against No. 18 Coastal Carolina, allowing three runs on seven hits over six innings of work, as he struck out four and took a shutout into the fifth ? Ranked among the Big 12 leaders in wins (sixth), shutouts (one, third), complete games (two, fourth) and ERA (17th) ? Picked up a no-decision in his only postseason appearance, allowing five runs against No. 6 Texas in the Big 12 Tournament on May 27 ? Went 6-3 with a 3.49 ERA in nine Big 12 starts, tying for the league lead in wins and ranking eighth in innings (56.2) and 10th in ERA en route to second-team All-Big 12 honors ? Won six consecutive starts during conference play, including wins over nationally ranked Texas and Oklahoma State ? Went 5.2 innings against No. 24 Oklahoma State on May 8, allowing three runs on seven hits in a 10-6 Husker win ? Fired 20.2 consecutive scoreless innings over a four-start stretch April 9-30 ? 2005: Dorn put together one of the most remarkable freshman campaigns in school annals, going 12-2 with a 2.16 ERA ? Earned third-team All-America honors from the ABCA and Collegiate Baseball, finishing seventh nationally in wins and ranked in the top five of the Big 12 in wins, ERA and opponent batting average (.199, fifth) ? Posted 12 wins, which were the most by any first-year Husker pitcher (freshman or JC transfer) and ranked third on NU’s single-season list, trailing only first-team All-Americans Shane Komine and Troy Brohawn ? Strung together 12 straight wins, the longest win streak by a Husker pitcher since Komine’s 14-game win streak in 2001 ? Went 3-1 with a 2.77 ERA during NU’s postseason run, including two NCAA Tournament wins ? Earned the win in the Huskers’ Super Regional-clinching win over No. 13 Miami on June 11, allowing one run on five hits in 6.1 innings ? Picked up his 11th straight win against Creighton on June 4, allowing three earned runs over 6.2 innings ? Was impressive in the Big 12 Tournament, firing a complete-game five-hitter in a 2-1 victory over Texas Tech, fanning four with one walk in a 104-pitch gem ? Was 5-0 with a save and a 2.05 ERA in eight Big 12 outings, earning series-clinching wins in four of NU’s last five conference series ? Turned in a dominant performance in a win at Texas Tech on May 14, fanning a season-best 11 Red Raiders over eight frames ? Made his first Big 12 start against Oklahoma on April 30, scattering four hits and not allowing an earned run over 6.2 innings to earn the victory ? Was superb against No. 8 Baylor on April 24, tossing seven innings of shutout relief with seven strikeouts ? Hurled 4.1 innings of shutout ball, striking out three and allowing two hits to earn the victory in the series clinching win at Texas A&M on April 17 - NU’s first-ever series win in College Station ? Turned in a dominant relief performance at Kansas on March 26, striking out six and allowing one hit in 3.0 innings for his first career save ? Burst on the scene against Creighton on March 29, taking a no-hitter into the eighth and striking out 10 in a 10-2 victory ? Earned his first collegiate win against South Dakota State on March 12, allowing one run on four hits over four innings.

Grand Island High School: Dorn was one of the state’s premier players, earning Gatorade Player-of-the-Year honors for Coach Tino Martinez at Grand Island High School ? Unanimous first-team All-Nebraska performer who shared the Lincoln Journal Star’s State Player-of-the-Year award ? Two-way performer who compiled a 9-1 record and a 1.15 ERA while helping Grand Island to a 26-6 record and a state tournament berth ? Struck out 92 in 60.2 innings and went undefeated until the state tournament ? Topped all hitters in the state in several offensive categories, including a .480 average, eight homers and 15 doubles while also driving in 42 runs ? Earned a spot in Sports Illustrated’s Faces in the Crowd after belting three grand slams in an American Legion twinbill in 2004 ? Brought home second-team all-state honors during his junior season, going 4-2 with a 2.00 ERA while hitting .348 with seven homers to help the Islanders to a state tournament appearance in the program’s first varsity season ? Lettered three times on the basketball court, helping GIHS to the 2002 Class A state title.
