2022: Recorded one out before suffering a season-ending injury. • Struck out the only batter he faced in season-opening series at Sam Houston.

2021: Bunz had a team-high 20 appearances on the mound for the Huskers. • Tallied three starts and 17 relief appearances. • Totaled 42 strikeouts on the year. • Posted a 2-1 record with one save. • Boasted a 2.20 ERA in 32.2 innings with 42 strikeouts. • Garnered wins against Minnesota and Illinois. • Tossed a season-high four innings against Iowa and Minnesota. • Pitched four scoreless innings with five strikeouts in win against Minnesota. • Threw two perfect innings to post lone save of the season vs. Northwestern. • Recorded season-high five strikeouts vs. Purdue and Minnesota.

Before Nebraska: A native of Elkhorn, Neb., Jake Bunz spent the last two seasons at Hutchinson Community College under Coach Ryan Schmidt after playing high school baseball at Elkhorn South • As a freshman at Hutchinson in 2019, he went 8-1 with a 3.48 ERA and recorded 81 strikeouts in only 54.1 innings • Tabbed second-team all-region and first-team All-Jayhawk West • During his career at Elkhorn South playing under Coach Brandon Dahl, Bunz compiled a 15-5 record with a 2.83 ERA and 155 strikeouts from 2016 to 2018 • Also earned two letters playing football.
