2020: Gunner Hellstrom started six games as the catcher before the season was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic • Batted .174 (4-for-23) with one run scored and three RBIs • Went 1-for-5 with one RBI at San Diego on Feb. 21 • Went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and one run scored at Arizona State on Feb. 28 • Went 1-for-3 against Northern Colorado on March 11.

2019: Hellstrom started 29 of his 38 games and batted .289 (35-for-121) with 18 RBIs, three doubles and 15 runs scored • Started 28 games at catcher and one as the designated hitter • Defensively, ranked third on the team in putouts (208) and threw out a team-high eight runners attempting to steal • Produced two-hit games during both of his appearances during the UC Riverside series and compiled three RBIs • Doubled as part of a 1-for-4 day against Oregon State on Feb. 22 • Went 3-for-4 at Baylor on March 9 • Doubled and scored two runs during a 2-for-5 performance at Creighton on March 26 • Went 3-for-7 with three runs scored during a doubleheader at Minnesota on March 31 • Scored two runs during a 2-for-5 day at Iowa on April 20 • Ended the season on a career-long eight-game hitting streak • Had 10 multi-hit games on the season and four multi-RBI performances • After managing at least one hit in all four of his outings at the Big Ten Tournament, he went 5-for-9 at the NCAA Oklahoma City Regional.

2018: Hellstrom earned a spot on the Big Ten All-Freshman Team during his first year at Nebraska • Started 19 of his 26 games with 16 starts as the catcher and three starts as the designated hitter • Batted .310 (22-for-71) with one double, 13 RBIs and five runs scored • Played in 17 of the last 22 games after seeing action nine times in the first 30 games of the season • Had at least one hit during 11 of his last 17 showings with three multi-hit efforts • Scored a run as part of the 2-for-4 day against Maryland on May 5 • Had a hit in both of his appearances during the Nevada series, including a three-RBI effort in the series finale on April 28 • Went 5-for-6 at Rutgers on April 21 with two RBIs and one run scored, becoming the first Husker since Scott Schreiber on May 17, 2015 to have five hits in a game • Hit his first career double in the second game of a doubleheader against Iowa on April 13 as part of a 2-for-2 showing with two RBIs and one run scored after going 1-for-3 in the first game of the doubleheader • Went 1-for-1 as a pinch hitter at Michigan State on April 7 • Went 2-for-4 with an RBI as the starting catcher at Oral Roberts on March 21 • Went 1-for-4 with one RBI during his first career start on March 9 against Cal Poly • Made his Husker debut on Feb. 24 against No. 2 Oregon State.

Before Nebraska: Hellstrom attended Grace Brethren High School in Simi Valley, Calif., where he played under Coach Barry Tolli • Helped the team to a runner-up finish in the 2017 CIF Division 4 playoffs, which included a 3-for-3 performance in the quarterfinals with two home runs and five RBIs • As a senior, he batted .529 with 46 hits, 45 RBIs, 13 doubles, one triple and five home runs to earn Tri Valley League MVP • Earned 2017 Rawlings/Perfect Game high honorable-mention Preseason All-America honors • Also named first-team All-Ventura County, first-team Southern Section CIF Division 4, first-team Cal-Hi Sports and first-team Max Preps California Medium Schools All-State as a senior • As a junior, he hit .410 with 32 hits, 25 RBIs, six doubles, and one triple en route to first-team All-Tri Valley League honors • As a sophomore, he batted .397 with 17 RBIs, 27 hits, eight doubles and one triple to earn first-team All-Tri Valley League accolades • Won a Laureate Award every year for a 4.0 grade-point average or higher • Member of National Honor Society • Ronald Reagan Student Leadership Award • Earned two letters in basketball • Played club baseball for the So Cal Giants under Coach Chuck Fick.

Personal: Born on July 20, 1998 • Parents are Rick and Anne-Marie Hellstrom • Has two sisters, Brianne and Hailee • Supply chain management major who earned his bachelor's degree from Nebraska in May of 2022.
