Senior (1990-91)
Beau Reid fell just shy of the 1,000-career-point mark after he scored 338 points his senior season to bring his career total to 976. Still, Reid sits at 25th on the career scoring chart at NU. After sitting out most of the year as a junior due to injury, Reid came back with a fantastic senior season, helping the Huskers win a school-record 26 games and reach the NCAA Tournament. Reid led the team in assists (130), was second in three-point percentage (.361), third in free throw percenatage (.774) and fifth in steals (29) while starting in all 34 Husker games. Reid's 9.9 points per game average was just shy of being the sixth Husker on the team to average in double figures for the season. He earned third-team GTE/CoSIDA Academic All-America and academic All-Big Eight honors, each for the second time in his career.
Junior (1989-90)
After undergoing reconstructive knee surgery to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee in July, 1989, Reid returned to the team in late December, and made his first game appearance against Wagner. He played in eight games, averaging 3.0 points and 1.9 rebounds per game. Reid recorded season-highs of eight points at Iowa State, six rebounds against Wagner and six assists against Sam Houston State. Despite the injury, Reid earned honorable-mention Lee Jeans Academic All-Big Eight honors.
Sophomore (1988-89)
Nebraska's leading scorer (11.9 ppg) as a sophomore, Reid started a team-high 31 games and earned third-team GTE/CoSIDA Academic All-America honors. He was also selected to the District VII academic team and the Lee Jeans Academic All-Big Eight squad. In addition to leading the team in scoring, Reid tied teammate Eric Johnson for the assists title with 135, then the fifth-best single-season total in school history. Reid was the first sophomore to lead Nebraska in scoring since Dave Hoppen in 1984, and was also the first sophomore since Hoppen to top the 500-point mark before the end of his sophomore season. He recorded 20 double-figure scoring efforts, including a career-high 22-point performance at Chaminade, and 21-point performances against Oklahoma State and Colorado. He grabbed a career-high 12 rebounds against Oklahoma, and dished out a career-high 10 assists against Sam Houston State and Wyoming. Reid, who had three double-doubles to his credit, became the second player in Nebraska history to own double-figure career highs in points, rebounds and assists. Reid was Nebraska's second-leading 3-point (.349) and free-throw (.743) shooter, and hit game-winning baskets against Texas Tech and Chaminade. He earned all-tournament honors at the Chaminade New Year's Classic after averaging 17.3 points and six rebounds per game in three tourney contests.
Freshman (1987-88)
Reid tallied 232 points as a rookie, only the third time a Husker freshman had topped the 20-point mark since 1972-73 (when freshmen became eligible to compete at the varsity level). He was the Big Eight's third-highest scoring freshman (8.3 ppg), behind Oklahoma State's Richard Dumas and Missouri's Doug Smith. He led the Huskers in 3-point shooting (.388) and his 21.6 minutes played per game topped the Husker freshman class. He scored a then-career-high 20 points against Chaminade, and his top rebounding effort was eight on two occasions. He scored in double figures 11 times and grabbed five or more rebounds eight times. Reid hit the game-winning jumper that gave Nebraska a 70-68 victory over eventual national champion Kansas and capped a 16-point Cornhusker rally in the final 11 minutes. Made his first collegiate start at Oregon, a 67-62 Husker victory. Was an honorable-mention Academic All-Big Eight pick.
