Fifth Year (2023-24)
Will Marshall looks to complete a five-year Nebraska career with his best collegiate season in 2023-24. The two-time Big Ten Golfer to Watch opened with a three-round total of 220 (+10) to tie for 53rd in a strong 84-player field at the Visit Knoxville Collegiate (Sept. 8-10). Marshall carded rounds of 72-76-72 over three days on the par-70, 7,280-yard layout of the Tennessee National Golf Club in Louden. He matched teammate Grant Jabenis for Nebraska's No. 3 finish at the event.

Marshall tied for 40th with a three-round score of 223 at the Bearcat Invitational (Sept. 18-19) on a par-71, 7,279-yard layout at Coldstream Country Club in Cincinnati. Marshall was Nebraska's No. 4 finisher with rounds of 72-75-76.

He added NU's No. 3 finish at the Badger Invitational (Oct. 1-3). Marshall notched a season-best three-round total of 218 (+2) that included a season-best 68 (-4) in the second round on the par-72, 7,271-yard layout at the University Ridge Golf Club in Wisconsin. He tied for 43rd individually in a 90-player field to help the Huskers to a sixth-place team finish in an 18-team field that featured six 2023 NCAA Regional-qualifying teams.

Through nine fall rounds, Marshall owns a 73.44 stroke average.

Marshall, who posted one of Nebraska's top stroke averages (73.68) in 2022-23, is also strong in the classroom as a 2022 GCAA All-America Scholar and a three-time Academic All-Big Ten selection.

Senior (2022-23)
Marshall emerged as a leader in his fourth season as a Husker in 2022-23. He closed the year with a team-best five top-25 finishes while competing in a team-best 28 rounds. His 73.68 stroke average ranked third among the Huskers. He opened the season with a then-career-best 68 (-4) in the second round of the Badger Invitational (Sept. 11-13) in Verona, Wis., on his way to a tie for 16th.

He led Nebraska with a 218 (73-70-75) to tie for 23rd at the William H. Tucker Intercollegiate in Albuquerque (Sept. 23-24). 

Marshall faced challenging scoring conditions at the Purdue Fall Invitational (Oct. 10-11), managing a 228 (79-75-74) to tie for 41st in the 15-team field. 

He closed the fall with a 220 (72-75-73) to tie for 50th at the White Sands Invitational in the Bahamas (Oct. 28-30). 

Marshall’s 73.45 stroke average during the fall helped Nebraska establish a record for best fall stroke average by the Huskers (289.64).

He continued his strong play to open the spring by going 1-1 at the Big Ten Match Play in Palm Coast, Fla. (Feb. 3-4). 

Marshall then led the Nebraska lineup with a 222 (76-75-71) to tie for 47th at The Prestige in Palm Springs, Calif. (Feb. 20-22). He was NU’s No. 3 individual finisher at the Desert Mountain Collegiate in Scottsdale, Ariz. (March 4-5), closing with a 228 to tie for 48th. 

He put together a strong performance with a 213 (70-76-67) that included a career-best 67 (-5) to tie for 19th individually at the Seahawk Intercollegiate in Wilmington, N.C. (March 26-27). Marshall followed that performance with a career-best 54-hole score of 210 (71-71-68) to finish at six-under-par and tie for 21st at the Tiger Collegiate on a par-72, 7,221-yard layout at The Club at Old Hawthorne in Missouri (April 10-11). 

Marshall notched a third consecutive top-25 finish by tying for 19th with a 223 (75-74-74) at the Fighting Illini Spring Collegiate (April 22-23). 

He closed the year as Nebraska’s No. 5 finisher with a 159 over two rounds in a rain-shortened Big Ten Championship at Galloway, N.J. (April 28-29).

Junior (2021-22)
Marshall contributed to Nebraska’s impressive team performances to close the fall campaign. Marshall earned lineup spots in each of Nebraska’s final three tournaments of the fall and put up strong numbers.

He closed with a then-career-best 212 (-4) to produce his first career top-25 finish at the Quail Valley Collegiate in Vero Beach, Fla. (Oct. 17-18). Marshall finished the fall with four consecutive rounds under par, including a then-career-best 70 (-2) in the first round on the 7,460-yard layout at Quail Valley. He added back-to-back rounds of 71 to tie for 25th in a strong 84-player field. 

Marshall made his first appearance in the Husker lineup at the William H. Tucker Intercollegiate in Albuquerque (Sept. 24-25) and was Nebraska’s top finisher at the 18-team event, producing a then-career-best tie for 28th with a then-career-best 221 (75-73-73) in a 100-player field on the UNM Championship Course.

He followed with a 216 (E) on a 7,200-yard layout at the Rich Harvest Farms Invitational in his home state of Illinois. His final round 71 (-1) began a string of four consecutive rounds better than par to close the season. With Marshall playing great golf in the heart of the Husker lineup, Nebraska ended the fall with six consecutive team rounds under par - which is believed to be the first time that happened in school history.

Marshall closed the fall campaign with a 72.11 stroke average over nine rounds to rank second among the Huskers heading into the spring.

After playing in three matches to open the spring at the Big Ten Match Play in Palm Coast, Fla. (Feb. 4-5), Marshall tied for 46th with a 228 (76-72-80) at the Desert Mountain Collegiate in Scottsdale, Ariz. (March 5-6). He followed with a strong performance to lead the Huskers and tie for 32nd overall with a 222 (71-72-79) at the Seahawk Intercollegiate in Wilmington, N.C. (March 27-28).

Marshall wrapped up the 2021-22 season with a 73.27 stroke average through 15 rounds.

Sophomore (2020-21)
Marshall earned his first lineup appearance of the season at the Hoosier Collegiate (April 3-4), and contributed to Nebraska’s third-place team finish. Marshall tied for 39th by posting a three-round score of 232 (82-78-72). His final-round 72 (+1) was Nebraska’s second-best individual round on The Pfau Course in Bloomington. 

His performance in Indiana also helped him earn a lineup spot at the Aggie Invitational (April 9-11), where he tied for 57th with a three-round score of 230 (77-76-77). Marshall helped the Huskers to a seventh-place team finish in a loaded 17-team field at the Traditions Club. Marshall made his third straight lineup appearance at the Git-R-Done Husker Invitational (April 17-18), tying for 46th with a 230 (77-75-78) over three rounds at Firethorn Golf Club.

Marshall closed the season by tying for 51st at the Big Ten Championship (April 30-May 2). He finished with a three-round total of 236 (78-79-79) at Crooked Stick Golf Club in Carmel, Ind.

Marshall ended the year with a 77.33 stroke average over 12 spring rounds.

Freshman (2019-20)
Marshall got his first taste of collegiate golf by posting a 76.50 stroke average over six rounds for the Huskers as a freshman in 2019-20. Marshall competed for the Huskers at the Maridoe Intercollegiate, finishing with a 234 (+18) in a tie for 45th. In his first college round, he fired a 73 (+1) to close the first 18 holes at Maridoe in the top 10.

His performance at Maridoe helped him earn a lineup spot at the Royal Oaks Intercollegiate, where he tied teammate Branden Meyer for the top finish among the Huskers with a then-career-best 225 (+12), which included a then-career-best 71 (E) in the final round. Marshall tied for 57th overall at Royal Oaks.

Before Nebraska
As a senior in the fall of 2018, Marshall led Kaneland High School to its first state championship appearance since 2012. He fired a program record 63 (-9) en route to repeating as the individual champion at the Northern Illinois Big 12 Conference Tournament. He then placed third at the Illinois Class 2A Sectional to help Kaneland advance to the state finals. 

Marshall finished his high school career with three top-five finishes in four years at the Illinois State Championships. 

He earned two individual tournament titles during the high school season in 2018 and received honors for both the Northern Illinois Big 12 All-Conference and IHSA All-State teams.

Marshall finished off his high school career with a tie for fifth at the 2018 Illinois Class 2A State Championship. He was also honored as the Daily Chronicle 2018 Boys Golfer of the Year.

Marshall had a standout summer of 2018 as well, posting three top-10 finishes at the national level in American Junior Golf Association tournaments in Kansas, Illinois and Colorado. He was ranked as the No. 3 golfer in the state of Illinois for 2019. 

Personal
The son of John and Karin Marshall, Will was born on Nov. 11, 2000. A mathematics major, Will was a GCAA All-America Scholar in 2022. The two-time Academic All-Big Ten selection has earned three spots on the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll.
