Sean Fisher completed his Nebraska career in 2012, after making outstanding contributions on the field and being one of the nation's top student-athletes off the field. An Omaha native, Fisher was a key figure in the Nebraska linebacking corps since the 2009 season.

The 6-6, 230-pound Fisher played the best football of his career in the second half of the 2012 season, helping Nebraska rank in the top 35 nationally in total defense.
Fisher played in all 14 games in 2012 with five starts, including four of the final five regular-season games when NU relied more on its base 4-3 defense. Fisher had 48 total tackles, including 19 solo stops, and three tackles for loss. He had five games with at least five tackles.

Fisher continued to maintain a perfect 4.0 cumulative grade-point average in business administration/pre-medicine. He earned second-team academic All-America honors for the second straight year, helping push NU past 300 academic All-Americans in all sports. Fisher also earned academic all-conference honors for the third time in his career. Fisher had the opportunity to apply for a sixth year of eligibility after missing most of two years with injury. However, he instead chose to focus on attending medical school beginning in the fall of 2013.

2012 (Senior)
Southern Miss: Saw game action, but did not make a tackle. UCLA: Played against the Bruins, but did not register a tackle. Arkansas State: Made four tackles against the Red Wolves. Idaho State: Totaled three tackles in the 73-7 NU win. Wisconsin: Made the most of his first start of the season with a then-season-high seven total tackles, including his first TFL of the season... helped the Blackshirts hold the Badgers to 56 yards rushing. Ohio State: Came off the bench against the Buckeyes to record one tackle. Northwestern: Did not record any stats against the Wildcats... saw limited snaps due to NU playing multiple DBs to counter Northwestern's spread attack. Michigan: Played one his best games as a Husker... tied a season high with seven tackles, including three solo stops... produced a career-high two TFLs, while helping hold the Wolverines to 188 yards of total offense. Michigan State: Produced six total tackles, including three solo stops... notched his first pass breakup off the season. Penn State: Posted six tackles in his 35th career game at NU... added his first QB hurry of the season. Minnesota: Totaled one tackle in his final game at Memorial Stadium... helped NU post its first undefeated home schedule since 2001. Iowa: Started his fourth game of the season... ended the game with four total tackles. Wisconsin (Big Ten Championship): Tied Andrew Green and Courtney Osborne for the team lead in tackles with eight... was a season high and one short of his career-high nine tackles against Iowa State in 2009... set a career high with seven solo stops... moved past 100 career tackles. Georgia (Capital One Bowl): Made one solo stop against the Bulldogs.

2011 (Junior)
Fisher played in 10 games, with starting assignments against Chattanooga, Fresno State, Wisconsin and Penn State. He finished the season with 24 total tackles, including three tackles for loss. Fisher had a season-high six tackles and a tackle for loss in the opener against Chattanooga and made at least three tackles four times on the season. He also had five tackles against Fresno State and four against Washington. Fisher added tackles for loss against Washington and Ohio State.

2010 (Sophomore)
Fisher suffered a broken leg during fall camp and missed the entire season.

2009 (Redshirt Freshman)
Fisher started six games and saw extensive playing time throughout the year despite often giving way to an extra defensive back. Fisher had four games with at least five tackles, beginning with a six-tackle effort in the opener against Florida Atlantic.

He made six tackles and two solo stops, along with a tackle for loss and a quarterback hurry at Virginia Tech. In a 55-0 shutout of Louisana-Lafayette, Fisher had six tackles, a pair of quarterback hurries and a 21-yard fumble return. Fisher had a career-high nine tackles vs. Iowa State and also returned a blocked field goal 34 yards. He added three tackles and his first career sack at Baylor. Fisher compiled three tackles over the season's final six games.

2008 (Redshirt)
Fisher appeared on special teams against Western Michigan, but a shoulder injury sidelined him the rest of the season and he received a medical hardship.  

Before Nebraska (Millard North HS)
Fisher was one of the first players to commit to the 2008 Husker class. He was a standout two-way performer at Class A powerhouse Millard North, starring in the secondary and at running back, while also handling punting chores and returning kicks. Fisher led Coach Fred Petito's team to the 2007 Class A state championship game, rushing for 646 yards, including 198 yards on 44 carries in the title game. Defensively, he played in the secondary and made 68 total tackles, including 43 solo stops, and added three tackles for loss and an interception.

Fisher was an honorary captain of both the Omaha World-Herald's All-Nebraska team and the Lincoln Journal Star's Super-State squad. Fisher also earned all-state honors from both papers as a junior when he made 92 tackles and had three interceptions, helping the Mustangs to the state semifinals. Fisher was also a key player for Millard North during his sophomore season, when the school captured the Class A state title.

Fisher was named a SuperPrep All-American and was widely regarded as one of the top five players in Nebraska by all recruiting services. Fisher chose Nebraska over Oklahoma, Wisconsin, Iowa, Colorado and Arizona State among others.  

Personal
Sean was born on Sept. 13, 1989, and is the son of Todd and Cathy Fisher. Todd Fisher was a cornerback for NU who lettered in 1983. Sean earned his bachelor's degree from Nebraska in May of 2013 after majoring in business administration/pre-medicine. He volunteered his time at the F Street Recreation Center, the Village Manor Retirement Center and with team hospital visits. Sean’s younger brother, Cole, is a redshirt freshman on Iowa’s football team.
