The No. 4 Nebraska rifle team heads south to Oxford, Miss. and Memphis, Tenn., this weekend, where it will face both No. 5 Ole Miss and No. 10 Memphis in Oxford on Saturday, Oct. 10. Then on Sunday, Oct. 11, NU will travel to Memphis to have a contest against the Tigers. Matches will start at 8 a.m. (CT) both days.
The Huskers enter the match at 2-0 coming off a strong performance on the road against Ohio State, winning 4,730-4,675. Alivia Perkins broke the air rifle record for a junior in program history with a near-perfect 599.
“We are excited to hit the road for our second road trip of the season,” Richard Clark said. “I’ve been very proud of the way the team has practiced this week, focused on reinforcing our fundamentals and embracing the adversity being on the line brings. If we can stay true to ourselves and execute on the fundamentals we have rehearsed, I think we will see some really great things this weekend.”
Ole Miss also enters the weekend at 2-0 with wins over UT-Martin and Ohio State. In the last five matches versus the Rebels, the Huskers have won three of them. The two teams most recently met at the NCAA Championships last season, where Ole Miss won 4,738-4,736.
Memphis will open its season this weekend. Nebraska has won six of the last ten matches against the Tigers, including a victory in their last match in 2025.
After this weekend, the Big Red rifle team will take a weekend off before hosting No. 2 Kentucky on Saturday, Oct.24, and No. 7 Alaska-Fairbanks on Sunday, Oct. 25.
