Nebraska tight end Luke Lindenmeyer was named a semifinalist for the 2025 William V. Campbell Trophy, football’s premier scholar-athlete award on Wednesday. The Campbell Trophy® recognizes an individual as the absolute best football scholar-athlete in the nation for his combined academic success, football performance and exemplary leadership.
Lindenmeyer is in his fifth season with the Huskers, including second as Nebraska’s starter at tight end and has made 42 appearances, including 23 starts. This season, he has five catches for 71 yards, including a career-long 33-yard reception against North Dakota. His blocking has helped Nebraska rank 12th nationally in rushing offense and 10th in the nation in total offense heading into Saturday’s Big Ten opener. As a junior, he was an honorable-mention All-Big Ten performer with 29 catches for 312 yards and two touchdowns, highlighted by a career-high seven catches against Michigan.
Off the field, Lindenmeyer has been active in NU’s Life Skills program throughout his Husker career, as he is four-time Tom Osborne Citizenship Team recipient. He was one of 27 student-athletes across all of Nebraska’s athletic programs to receive the Sam Foltz 27 Hero Leadership Award in 2024. A three-time academic All-Big Ten pick and 2026 Big Ten Distinguished scholar, Lindenmeyer will graduate with a degree in finance this December. He was named an Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar earlier this year and is a member of the Chi Alpha Sigma Honor Society.
Lindenmeyer is one of the 206 candidates from the FBS and FCS levels, as schools can nominate one student-athlete annually. To be considered, candidates must by a senior who is will complete his final year of eligibility in the 2026 season or a graduate student or graduate transfer who has already earned a degree and is participating in the 2026 season; have a GPA of at least 3.2 on a 4.0 scale; have outstanding football ability as a first team player or significant contributor; and have demonstrated strong leadership and citizenship.
The NFF will announce 12-16 finalists on Oct. 21, and each of them will receive an $18,000 postgraduate scholarship as a member of the 2026 NFF National Scholar-Athlete Class Presented by Fidelity Investments. The Campbell Trophy® winner will be announced in Las Vegas on Dec. 8.
