In the east qualifying draw round of 64, Aniss Rafiq battled in a three-set match to upset No. 17 Cezar Gabriel Papoe (Cornell), 6-7, 6-2, 6-4 to advance to the round of 32 in men's open singles. The junior improves to a 4-0 start to his fall season.
In this undefeated run, Rafiq has only dropped two sets over a span of four matches.
Rafiq will continue on to battle the No. 3 ranked singles player in the tournament, Jules Leroux (NC State) on Tuesday, Sept. 22 to see who will advance.
