A total of 62 Husker student athletes were recently inducted into NU’s second class of Chi Alpha Sigma.
The 2025-26 academic year marks the second year of the partnership between the Big Ten Conference and Chi Alpha Sigma, as all 18 member schools are now part of the National College Athlete Honor Society.
The honor is reserved for student-athletes with at least junior academic standing who are varsity student athletes and carry a cumulative GPA of at least 3.50. Only undergraduate student athletes are eligible. In the two years, 159 Husker athletes have earned a place into the honor society.
The 2026 class includes student-athletes from nearly every Husker program, including 10 members of the Husker men’s and women’s track program which earned top-10 finishes at the NCAAs earlier this month and five members of the Husker softball program which swept the Big Ten title and reached the Women’s College World Series. The list also includes eight Husker football players who have helped NU to back-to-back bowl appearances. A complete list of the honored student athletes is below.
Chi Alpha Sigma was founded in 1996 by then-DePauw University head football coach Nick Mourouzis. His goal was to provide outstanding student-athletes with an opportunity to become connected within a fraternal association that aligns their educational and athletic successes for a lifetime. The name “Chi Alpha Sigma” was chosen to identify the organization as a national “College Athlete Society.”
