Nebraska women's golf head coach Breanne Hall has fortified her Husker staff for the 2026-27 season with the hiring of former Bradley head coach Halley Morell.
The Huskers made the official announcement on Thursday, May 28.
Morell, who recently completed her seventh season as the head coach at Bradley by leading the Braves to a runner-up finish at the 2026 Missouri Valley Conference Championship, also guided Bradley to the 2026 National Golf Invitational. It was the Bradley's best conference tournament finish and first postseason bid since 2006.
"We are thrilled to welcome Halley Morell to our program," Hall said. "She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience, and having coached against her in the Missouri Valley Conference, I’ve seen firsthand the impact she has on developing her players and building competitive, disciplined teams. Her ability to build relationships, foster growth and bring out the best in her student-athletes truly sets her apart.
"Halley’s passion for the game, strong leadership and commitment to excellence align seamlessly with the standards and culture we are continuing to build within our program. I’m looking forward to this partnership and the direction we’re heading together as we continue to grow and elevate our program."
In 2025, Morell helped Jillian Cosler to the Missouri Valley Conference individual title and an NCAA Regional bid. She also coached Cosler to an MVC Newcomer of the Year award in 2024, after previously guiding Maria Perakis to an MVC Newcomer honor in 2022. Under Morell's instruction, Taylor Ledwein was named the 2021 MVC Player of the Year.
In her seven seasons leading Bradley, the Braves collected nine MVC all-conference awards while her golfers won six individual tournament titles. Her teams were also among the highest academic achievers in the nation, including a 3.90 team GPA in the spring of 2025.
A leader at the national level, Morell has served on the NCAA Division I Women's Golf Committee for the past three seasons and was also the chair of the Missouri Valley Conference Women's Golf Coaches Committee in 2025-26.
Morell earned her LPGA Class A teaching professional certificate in 2019 and was named the LPGA Midwest Section Coach of the Year in both 2019 and 2021. She earned her PGA Professional Class A membership in 2025.
Morell began her college coaching career as an assistant women's golf coach at UTEP in August of 2016. After spending two seasons with the Miners, she spent the 2018-19 season as both an assistant men's and women's coach at Jacksonville State. She helped the Jacksonville State men's team to an NCAA Regional appearance in 2019, after leading the Gamecocks to the Ohio Valley Conference title. She accepted the position as head women's golf coach at Bradley in 2019.
A four-time WGCA All-American Scholar, Morell spent her final two collegiate seasons at Penn State, where she was the Big Ten Sportsmanship Award winner for the Nittany Lions in 2016. She was also a 2016 Big Ten Distinguished Scholar and Academic All-Big Ten choice before graduating with highest distinction from Penn State in May 2016.
She began her college career at Robert Morris, where she was the Northeast Conference Co-Golfer of the Year and NEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year as a sophomore in 2014, after playing her way to a runner-up finish at the NEC Championship. She still owns Robert Morris records for season and career scoring averages, along with 54-hole tournament scoring mark.
Morell has appeared in five professional tournaments (four as an amateur), highlighted by a fifth-place finish at the 2017 LPGA Teaching & Club Professionals Southeast Section event at TPC Sawgrass in her lone outing as a pro. She placed in the top 10 at the Women's Western Amateur Championship twice, taking ninth in both 2014 and 2016. She also played in the 2013 USGA Women's Amateur Pub Links National Championship along with the 2016 USGA Women's Four Ball Championship.
Prior to turning professional in March 2017, Morell was ranked 627th in the World Amateur Golf Rankings and had a USGA Handicap of +2.2. During her college career, she was ranked as high as 278th in the Golfweek.com women's rankings.
Morell earned her master's degree in business administration from UTEP in May 2018.
