Frahm Tabbed Top Three Candidate for USA Softball Player of the Year

Nebraska softball two-way player Jordy Frahm was named to the Top Three List for USA Softball’s Collegiate Player of the Year, the organization announced on Monday. This is the second consecutive season that she has been a top three finalist for the award.

Frahm joins Megan Grant (UCLA) and Isa Torres (Florida State) as the three finalists.

The senior has helped Nebraska to Big Ten regular-season and tournament titles this season, and has aided NU to its 10th NCAA Regional title and second consecutive Super Regional appearance. She ranks in the top 10 nationally in ERA (fourth), saves (first), shutouts (fourth), strikeout-to-walk ratio (third), strikeouts (ninth) and WHIP (seventh).

This season, Frahm leads the Big Red offense with a .421 batting average and 19 home runs. If she were to hit one more home run this season, she would become the first Husker with multiple 20+ home run seasons. Frahm adds 50 RBI, 11 doubles and 57 runs scored. She has a slugging percentage of .848 and an on-base percentage of .516, for an OPS of 1.364.

In the circle, she is 19-4 with a 1.15 ERA and 12 saves. Her 12 saves tie the Big Ten single-season record. She adds eight solo shutouts and three combined shutouts and has struck out 225 batters and only walked 28. Frahm logged 16 strikeouts against GCU on Saturday, which tied her career high and was the most by a Husker in an NCAA Tournament game since 2005.
