Four Huskers Honored by Softball America

Four Nebraska softball players were recognized as top players at their position going into the month of May, Softball America announced this week.

Senior Jordy Frahm was tabbed the No. 1 two-way player, while Alexis Jensen was the No. 4 two-way player. Ava Kuszak was the No. 12 shortstop and Hannah Camenzind was the No. 30 outfielder.

Frahm, who was just named a top 25 candidate for the USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year Award, leads the Husker offense with a .423 batting average, along with 63 hits and 49 runs scored. She adds 45 RBI, 17 home runs, nine doubles and four triples for a .879 slugging percentage this season. In the circle, Frahm is 15-4 with a 1.30 ERA. She has seven shutouts and nine saves across 31 appearances and 15 starts. She has struck out 174 batters and allowed only 22 walks and 26 runs across 129.2 innings pitched.

Jensen was recently put on the NFCA Top 25 List for Freshman of the Year. She is 19-2 in the circle with a 2.57 ERA this season and adds 174 strikeouts to only 28 walks. Offensively, the Gretna, Neb., native is hitting .333 with five home runs, four doubles and 15 RBI.

Kuszak has been a leader in conference play for the Big Red, as she is hitting .318 in Big Ten games with seven home runs, two doubles and 18 RBI. She is slugging at .667.

Camenzind was last week’s Softball on Sports Illustrated Player of the Week and has a team-high 48 RBI on the season, along with 60 hits, 22 of which have come for extra bases. She also has a 5-0 record in the circle with a 1.40 ERA.
