Frahm Tabbed Top 25 Candidate for Player of the Year

Written byPaige Trutna

Nebraska softball senior two-way player Jordy Frahm was named to the Top 25 List for USA Softball’s Collegiate Player of the Year, the organization announced on Wednesday. Frahm was a top-3 finalist for the award last year and was a top-10 finalist in 2022 and 2023 at Oklahoma.

Frahm is one of four Big Ten players on the list, along with UCLA’s Megan Grant and Jordan Woolery and Purdue’s Moriah Polar.

The senior from Papillion, Neb., was just tabbed Softball America’s No. 1 two-way player going into the month of May and has been a three-time Big Ten Pitcher of the Week this season.

Frahm ranks in the top 20 nationally in eight different stat categories – saves (first), strikeout-to-walk ratio (third), ERA (fifth), shutouts (fifth), WHIP (11th), strikeouts per seven innings (13th), strikeouts (15th) and WHIP (15th). If the season were to end today, she would top the Husker career record charts in batting average (.443) and slugging percentage (.937). She would rank in the top 10 in win percentage (.773, second), saves (11, fourth), home runs (40, eighth), ERA (1.46, ninth), strikeouts (460, ninth) and extra-base hits (71, 10th).

Frahm leads the Husker offense with a .423 batting average, along with 63 hits and 49 runs scored. She adds 45 RBI, 17 home runs, nine doubles and four triples for a .879 slugging percentage this season.

In the circle, Frahm is 15-4 with a 1.30 ERA. She has seven shutouts and nine saves across 31 appearances and 15 starts. She has struck out 174 batters and allowed only 22 walks and 26 runs across 129.2 innings pitched.

The 25 finalists will be narrowed down to 10 on May 13 and three on May 18.
