Huskers Split Two More Matches in Arizona

TEMPE, Ariz. — The Nebraska beach volleyball team split a pair of matches at the Sun Devil Classic at the Sun Devil Beach Volleyball Facility on Saturday, sweeping Arizona Christian 5-0 and falling to No. 19 Arizona 5-0. The Huskers now stand at 9-2 on the season.

Against Arizona Christian, Harper Murray and Andi Jackson picked up a win at No. 2 for the first team point, topping Jaiden Zeis and Jasmin Joseph 21-16, 21-17. Olivia Mauch and Manaia Ogbechie won their No. 4 match, rolling past Abby Siebert and Haley Tedrow 21-11, 21-19.

Gabby DiVita and Virginia Adriano clinched the sweep at No. 5, edging Kapri Espinosa and Lily Peterson 21-13, 22-20. Bergen Reilly and Teraya Sigler grinded out a three-set win at No. 1, topping Emee Fellens and Emily Casner 21-14, 17-21, 15-11, while Skyler Pierce and Laney Choboy also won in three sets at No. 3, outlasting Alyssa Robles and Abby Nelson 19-21, 21-17, 15-11.

Earlier in the day, the Huskers were competitive against No. 19 Arizona, pushing three of the duals to third sets, two of which ended in extra point deuce games. Reilly and Sigler pushed the Wildcats' No. 1 pair of Regan Holmer and Carlie Cisneros to the end, falling 21-23, 21-15, 15-17. Pierce and Choboy also went the distance in their No. 3 matchup against Adri Nieves Papaleo and Tylee Shires, 14-21, 27-25, 14-16. And Murray and Jackson forced a third set, dropping their No. 2 match to Ashlyn Zilliken and Madeline Walker 23-21, 16-21, 8-15. 

NU finishes the Arizona trip with a doubleheader against Park (AZ) on Sunday beginning at 11 a.m. (CT).
