Huskers Earn Four Event Titles in Victory Over Pioneers

The Nebraska women’s gymnastics team grabbed a 195.600-195.350 victory over Texas Woman’s University on Friday at Magee Arena in Denton, Texas.

The Huskers moved to 6-7 on the season (3-6 Big Ten), while TWU fell to 8-12.

Whitney Jencks grabbed the all-around title with a season-high 39.350. Shaver earned the vault title with a 9.850 and Jencks also grabbed the bars title with a career-high 9.925 and a share of the beam title with a 9.800. Isabel Sikon took second in the all-around with a 39.150.

Rotation One
Behind a career-high 9.925 from Jencks and a 9.875 from Molly Peterson, Nebraska kicked off the evening with a 49.250 on bars. Sikon (9.850), Nya Kraus (9.825) and Tegan Shaver (9.775) rounded out the rotation. That also marked career marks for Sikon and Shaver and tied Peterson’s career high.

Rotation Two
NU moved to vault, where they scored a 48.975 as a team. Sikon (9.825), Peterson (9.800) and Jencks (9.800) followed for NU. Peyton Pech (9.700) completed the lineup.

Rotation Three
Nebraska continued the night with a 48.550 on floor. Jencks (9.825) led the way for the Huskers. Allie Gard and Sikon both notched a 9.700 to follow the event. Kraus (9.675) and Reese Baechle (9.650) rounded out the lineup.

Rotation Four
NU concluded the contest on beam, posting a 48.825. Jencks led the way for the Huskers with a 9.800, followed by Kraus (9.775) and Sikon (9.775). Olivia Burns (9.750) and Gard (9.725) ended the competition.

The Huskers will travel to Chapel Hill, N.C. on Friday, March 13 to take on North Carolina and Penn State. The meet is slated to begin at 5:45 p.m. (CT) at Carmichael Arena. Streaming information will be provided on huskers.com.
