The NCAA Division I Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships Subcommittee announced the swimmers qualifying for the 2026 NCAA Championships on Wednesday, March 4. Gena Jorgenson and Beatrix Tanko will be representing the Big Red swimmers at the event this year.
The championships will be held March 18-21 at the McAuley Aquatic Center in Atlanta with Georgia Institute of Technology serving as the host.
Big Ten Champion Jorgenson smashed three school records at the Big Ten Championships while also taking gold in the 1,650 freestyle. The dominant distance swimmer cut 11.54 (?) seconds from her time at the previous conference championships where she now holds a fourth-seed among the NCAA with a time of 15:45.36.
Her win automatically qualified her for the championships where she also qualified for the 500 freestyle and 400 IM.
Tanko broke three school records over the course of the season and recently swam her qualifying time of 51.75 in the 100 fly at the conference championships. Finishing in seventh, Tanko swam identical times in the preliminary and final rounds. She has additionally been invited to compete in the 50 and 100 freestyles.
Tanko has demonstrated consistent improvement throughout her career with this being the first trip she’s had to the NCAA Championships stage.
Divers participating in the championships will be announced on Thursday, March 12 after Zone Diving Championships. The Huskers will be traveling to College Station, Texas where Zone D Championships will be held March 9-11.
