Nebraska swimmers Gena Jorgenson and Beatrix Tanko earned bids to the 2026 Division I Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships, when the NCAA announced its selections on Wednesday, March 4.
The championships will be held March 18-21 at the McAuley Aquatic Center in Atlanta with Georgia Tech serving as the host.
Jorgenson, the 2026 Big Ten champion in the 1,650 freestyle, smashed three school records at the conference meet. The senior from Aberdeen, S.D., took gold in the 1,650 by cutting 11.34 seconds from her time at the 2025 conference meet. Jorgenson earned the No. 4 seed heading into the NCAA Championships with a time of 15:45.36.
Jorgenson also qualified for the NCAA meet in the 500 freestyle and the 400 IM.
Tanko broke three school records over the course of the season and recently swam her qualifying time of 51.75 in the 100 fly to finish seventh at the Big Ten Championships. Tanko also will compete in the 50 and 100 freestyles at the NCAA meet.
Tanko has demonstrated consistent improvement throughout her career with this being the first trip she’s had to the NCAA Championships stage.
Divers participating in the championships will be announced on Thursday, March 12 after Zone Diving Championships. The Huskers will be traveling to College Station, Texas where Zone D Championships will be held March 9-11.
