University of Nebraska guard Sam Hoiberg was honored as honored as a College Sports Communicators Academic All-District® team.
Hoiberg, who has a 3.749 cumulative GPA in sports media and communications, has been instrumental in the Huskers men’s basketball program enjoying its best season in program history in 2025-26. The senior guard is averaging 9.4 points, 5.3 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 2.0 steals per game in helping the Huskers to a 28-6 record and the first NCAA Sweet 16 appearance in school history. An All-Big Ten pick and member of the Big Ten All-Defensive Team, he ranks in the top 10 in the conference in both assists and steals and is fourth nationally with a 4.08-to-1 assist-to-turnover ratio. During his career, he has helped the Huskers to three straight 20-win seasons and three straight postseason appearances.
Hoiberg, who graduated in December of 2025, is now a three-time Academic All-District honoree, and will advance to the national ballot in hopes of earning Academic All-America honors. A four-time academic All-Big Ten pick, he is also a two-time Big Ten Distinguished Scholar and a two-time NABC Honors Court honoree.
Hoiberg and the Huskers are in action on Thursday night, as they take on Iowa in the NCAA Sweet 16. Tipoff is set for 6:30 p.m. and the game will be carried on TBS and truTV and carried on the Huskers Radio Network.
