On Wednesday, Nebraska men’s tennis announced the signing of Flagler University transfer Aniss Rafiq who is in his second year at the Florida-based university and will join the Huskers in the fall of the 2026-27 season.

“We are extremely excited to have Aniss join the program,” said Nebraska head coach, Peter Kobelt. “Early on in the recruiting process we saw a lot of things we liked. He obviously has a lot of skills on the court that we think translate very well in our conference that are hard to teach. But more importantly, we saw someone who was going to really fit well in the locker room, the athletic department, the university and the community here in Lincoln. We are looking forward to working with him and getting him on campus with the guys.”

The redshirt freshman from Annemasse, France, peaked in the top 10 in the Division II ITA national rankings with a ranking as high as No. 8 in both doubles and singles during his freshman season.

In his freshman season, he only competed in six matches in the spring, finishing with a 3-2 singles record. In doubles, he hit a multitude of marks by reaching the ITA Cup in October where he advanced to the quarterfinal match of that tournament. He was also the ITA Southeast Regional runner-up, ending that season with a ranking of No. 42 singles and No. 22 doubles. Off the court, Rafiq earned the PBC Presidential Honor Roll Presidential Scholar.

So far this season, Rafiq has led Flagler University to a No. 3 Division II rank and a 9-1 record. He currently sits at No. 31 in singles with a 6-3 record. In doubles, Rafiq carries a 5-4 record so far this season.
