Huskers See Five Career Highs Against Hawkeyes

The Nebraska women’s gymnastics team enjoyed five career highs, but fell to No. 21 Iowa 197.225-196.825 at the Carver-Hawkeye Arena on Saturday night. That mark is a new season-high team score for the squad.

The Huskers fell to 3-4 (1-3 Big Ten) on the season, while Iowa improved to 5-4 (2-2 Big Ten).

Nya Kraus earned the beam title with a career-high 9.925 and a share of the bars title with another career-high 9.925. Whitney Jencks took fourth in the all-around with a 39.225 and Isabel Sikon took fifth with a 38.125.

Rotation One
The Huskers kicked off the evening on bars, notching a season-high 49.400 team score. Kraus led the way with a career-high 9.925. Jencks (9.900) and Molly Peterson (9.875) followed for the Big Red. Olivia Burns (9.850) and Karys Griffin (9.850) rounded out the rotation. This set career marks for Kraus and Griffin and tied career marks for Jencks, Peterson and Burns.

Rotation Two
The Huskers continued the night with a 48.950 on vault. Sikon led the way with a 9.850. Baechle (9.825), Tegan Shaver (9.800) and Peterson (9.750) followed for the Big Red. Griffin (9.725) finished out the lineup.

Rotation Three
Behind a season-high 9.925 for Lauren Homecillo, Nebraska earned a season-high 49.200 on floor. Kraus (9.850) followed for the Huskers. Baechle (9.825), Sikon (9.800) and Jencks (9.800) rounded out the lineup.

Rotation Four
NU concluded the contest on beam, posting a season-high 49.275 team score. They were led by Kraus with a 9.925, her second career high of the day. Burns notched a career-high 9.875 and Homecillo earned a career-high 9.850 to follow for Nebraska. Jencks (9.850) and Allie Gard (9.775) completed the competition.

NU will be back in Lincoln for Senior Day on Sunday, Feb. 15 for the last home meet of the season against Illinois. The meet is set to begin at 2 p.m. (CT) at the Bob Devaney Sports Center and will be streamed on B1G+.
