Lincoln - Logan Nissley scored a career-high 22 points on a career-high six three-pointers, but No. 22 Maryland controlled the possession game in a 78-60 win over the Nebraska women's basketball team on Saturday afternoon at Pinnacle Bank Arena.
With the loss, Nebraska slipped to 16-8 overall and 5-8 in the Big Ten, while the Terrapins notched their second straight Big Ten road win to improve to 19-6 overall and 7-6 in the conference.
Nissley was the only Husker to manage double figures on the day, as Maryland held Nebraska to just 39.3 percent (22-56) shooting. NU did connect on 9-of-25 threes (.360), including two from Callin Hake, who finished with eight points.
The Huskers, who hit 7-of-9 free throws (.778), committed a season-high 22 turnovers and got beat on the boards, 39-26.
Isimenme Ozzy-Momodu led four Terps in double figures with 16 points and nine rebounds in just 20 minutes. Momodu hit 7-of-8 shots from the floor. Oluchi Okananwa contributed 14 points and a game-high four steals, while Rainey Welson pitched in a career-high 13 points and four assists off the bench.
Yarden Garzon rounded out the Terps in double digits with 11 points and a game-high six assists while sinking three three-pointers. Saylor Poffenbarger added eight points and a game-high-tying nine rebounds to go along with three steals.
As a team, Maryland hit 50 percent (31-62) of its shots from the floor, including 8-of-24 threes (.333), while sinking 8-of-11 free throws.
Maryland jumped out to a 45-28 halftime lead despite 13 first-half points for Nissley, who hit a trio of three-pointers. Jessica Petrie added five points, all in the second quarter, but the rest of the Huskers combined for just 10 points against a Terrapin defense that forced 15 turnovers.
Okananwa led Maryland with nine first-half points, including seven straight early in the first quarter to help the Terps take a 15-11 lead at the end of one quarter. Garzon heated up in the second quarter by scoring eight points, including a pair of threes, as Maryland outscored the Huskers 30-17 in the period.
Poffenbarger also had eight first-half points and a pair of threes for the Terps, while Ozzy-Momodu pitched in seven first-half points.
Maryland hit 46.2 percent (18-39) of its first-half shots, including 6-of-17 threes. More importantly, the Terps outworked Nebraska on the glass, 23-15, including 11 offensive rebounds.
The Huskers hit just 10-of-27 shots (.370), including 5-of-11 threes (.455), while forcing 11 turnovers by the Terps.
Maryland extended the lead in the third quarter, outscoring the Big Red 25-18 in the period. The Terps took their biggest lead at 70-40 with 1:36 left in the third, before Nebraska outscored Maryland 20-8 the rest of the way.
Nebraska returns to Big Ten road action by battling Minnesota on Thursday.
