Husker Women Set School Record in Distance Medley Relay

The Husker track and field team concluded the first day of action at the Big Ten Indoor Championships with the women’s team tied for eighth through four events. 

The Husker women ran a school record 11:00.70 in the distance medley relay to finish seventh and add two points to the NU team score. Jaylee Wingate led off running the 1200m, followed by Sakena Massiah in the 400m, Sydney Drevlow raced the 800m and Berlyn Schutz anchored them home in the 1600m.

Arina Razina used a season best mark of 4.25m (13-11 ¼) in the women’s pole vault to claim fifth and get the women’s team on the board with four points. 

James Ledbetter ran a personal best of 1:17.98 in the first round of the men’s 600m, finishing in 11th and moving into tenth in school history. 

Luke Noland ended the first day of heptathlon competition in ninth-place with 2936 points including top-eight finishes in the 60m and the high jump. Brayden Bergkamp followed closely behind in tenth with 2902 points highlighted by a fifth-place finish in the high jump. 

Ava Goetz finished 12th in the women’s pentathlon with a personal best of 3724 points supported by a competitive third-place finish in the women’s high jump. Grace Parsons competed to a 15th-place finish overall with 3658 and a notable top-eight finish in shot put.
