Nebraska’s LJ Araujo (165) earned his first career Big Ten Freshman of the Week honor, as the conference announced its weekly award winners Thursday afternoon.
The redshirt freshman recorded a pin in 4:45 against Utah Valley last weekend, adding six team points to Nebraska’s 32-6 victory. It marked Araujo’s second pin of the season as the seventh-ranked wrestler in the nation closed the regular season with a 14-6 overall record and a 10-6 mark in dual competition. In 16 dual matches this season, 14 opponents have been ranked, including nine inside the top 12.
Araujo is the first Husker to earn a Big Ten weekly honor since Christopher Minto in January 2025.
The Huskers will begin postseason competition at the Big Ten Championships in University Park, Pa. The two-day tournament begins with Session I on Saturday, March 7 at 9 a.m. (CT). Session II is scheduled for 4 p.m. (CT) Saturday, with Sessions III and IV set for Sunday, March 8. All sessions will be televised on Big Ten Network and Big Ten Plus.
