Thompson Selected for NFL Flag Football Showcase, Named Colorado High School Female Athlete of the Year

Nebraska softball signee Lucy Thompson was recognized as the Colorado High School Female Athlete of the Year and was selected to be part of the NFL Flag Football Girls High School Showcase, presented by Visa.

This year marks the second year that the NFL will host the Flag Football Showcase, which will feature 32 of the top girls' high school flag football athletes from across the nation. The game will be televised live on ESPN as a lead-in to the Pro Bowl Games on Tuesday, Feb. 3. 

Thompson was a flag football first-team All-State and All-Conference honoree her senior year at Legend High School and earned the state record in receiving yards.

Thompson signed with the Husker softball team on Nov. 12, 2025 and will join the roster for the 2027 season.
