Huskers Cap Regular Season At Home

The No. 4 Nebraska rifle team looks toward a weekend of home competition against Jacksonville State. The Huskers will battle the Gamecocks on Saturday, Jan. 31, and Sunday, Feb. 1. Both matches will begin at 8 a.m. (CT) and will be hosted at the Nebraska Rifle Range in Lincoln, Neb. Live results can be found here and attendance is free for fans.

NU comes into the weekend after a successful outing in Fairbanks, Alaska, where it went 3-1 over the weekend. The Big Red defeated Alaska-Fairbanks twice, by a score of 4,746-4,730 on Jan. 17, and 4,740-4,733 on Jan. 18. The Huskers split the weekend with No. 1 Kentucky, falling 4,759-4,746 on Jan. 17, and topping the Wildcats, 4,740-4,734 on Jan. 18.

“We’re excited to close out our home campaign of the 25-26 season this weekend,” Head Coach Richard Clark said. “The team has been working hard elevating the little things day in day out to ensure we capitalize on every opportunity we have left this spring. I’m looking forward to seeing what we can accomplish at home this weekend in preparation for conference championships right around the corner.”

Jacksonville State enters the weekend at 9-2 with notable wins coming against No. 17 Morehead State, No. 18 UAB and No. 19 UT Martin. The Gamecocks’ two losses both came at the hands of Murray State.

After closing out the regular season, NU will travel to Fort Wayne, Ind., to compete in the Patriot Rifle Conference Championships on Feb. 7-8.
