NU Travels to No. 9 Minnesota

The No. 6 Nebraska wrestling team (8-3, 1-0 Big Ten) heads back on the road for the first time since early December, traveling to face No. 9 Minnesota (7-2, 1-0 Big Ten) on Friday, Jan. 16, in Minneapolis, Minn. The Huskers and Gophers are set for an 8 p.m. (CT) dual that will be televised on BTN.

The top-10 matchup has the potential to feature eight ranked bouts and marks a milestone opportunity for senior Brock Hardy. With a win at 141, Hardy would reach 100 career dual wins at Nebraska, joining the program’s 100-win club. Ridge Lovett was the most recent Husker to reach the milestone, finishing with 101 wins.

Nebraska and Minnesota could feature up to five rematches. At 141, No. 3 Brock Hardy owns a 4-0 record against No. 10 Vance VomBaur. At 149, No. 14 Chance Lamer is 1-0 against No. 25 Drew Roberts after the pair met at the 2024 NCAA Championships while Lamer competed at Cal Poly. At 184, No. 9 Silas Allred is 0-1 on the mat against No. 3 Max McEnelly. Both Alan Koehler and Cade Ziola have seen their opponent at the Bison Open this season. At 125, Koehler fell by decision to No. 9 Jore Volk, while at heavyweight, Ziola and No. 10 Koy Hopke are tied at one win each, both by decisions.

Top Bout to Watch:
141: No. 3 Brock Hardy is projected to face No. 10 Vance Vombaur. Hardy enters the weekend coming off a pin in under three minutes against Vincent Paino of Purdue. Both Hardy and Vombaur are 12-3 on the season. Hardy’s career record stands at 99-27, and a victory on Friday would make him the 32nd wrestler in program history to reach 100 career wins.
