The Nebraska women’s tennis team will begin its spring season with a weekend of duals at the Sid and Hazel Dillon Tennis Center in Lincoln, Neb.
The Big Red will host James Madison on Friday, Jan. 16 at 6 p.m. CT. On Sunday, Jan. 18, NU will battle Omaha in a doubleheader with matches at Noon and 4 p.m. CT. James Madison and Omaha will also compete in a neutral match at 2 p.m. CT on Saturday, Jan. 17.
The Huskers capped off their fall season tallying 26 singles wins. Junior Maria Taranova led the team with five wins, and is looking to start strong after a standout sophomore season, going 22-7 in the 2024-25 season.
In the 2024-25 season led by second-year head coach German Dalmagro, Nebraska went 12-12 overall. Senior Ana Zamburek was named an All-Big Ten second-team honoree after going 13-5 in singles, including three wins against nationally ranked opponents.
Taranova was named to the Big Ten Preseason Player to Watch List on Jan. 5.
James Madison
History: Nebraska has never faced James Madison. This weekend will mark the first ever meeting between NU and the Dukes.
Omaha
History: The Huskers are 11-0 all time against Omaha. Nebraska last competed against Omaha in 2025, where the Big Red defeated the Mavericks 6-1 in Lincoln.
