Retired Major Rich Diegel served as the POW/MIA Chair Sentinel on Sept. 13, 2025 as Nebraska Football took on Houston Christian.
Major Diegel enlisted in the United States Army in 2000 as a Cryptologic Linguist and commissioned through Army ROTC in 2019 as a Military Intelligence Officer. Major Diegel served at multiple duty stations overseas including Japan and South Korea.
Major Diegel deployed twice to Afghanistan in 2012 and 2013, where he received a bronze star. He retired from active duty in 2024 and now works at Offutt Air Force Base. Major Diegel resides in Elkhorn, Nebraska, with his wife Amy and daughter Julia.
