No. 2 Huskers Dominate No. 8 Lehigh in Opening Round

The No. 2 Nebraska wrestling team picked up a 35-7 victory over No. 8 Lehigh on Saturday afternoon in the first round of the National Duals Invitational in Tulsa, Okla.

With the win, the Big Red advance to the quarterfinal round against No. 11 Michigan at approximately 5 p.m. this evening on FloWrestling.

Lehigh got on the board first after No. 5 Sheldon Seymour defeated Alan Koehler, 4-3, in a close match. 

Omar Ayoub, in his first dual of the season, came out strong at 133 with an 11-2 major decision over Mason Ziegler to put the Big Red on top, 4-3. 

At 141, No. 2 Brock Hardy pinned Carter Bailey in 6:11 after leading 14-0 in the third period. Freshman Nikade Zinkin followed with a quick decision over Anthony Evanitsky, 4-1. 

No. 19 Logan Rozynski defeated No. 1 Antrell Taylor in a 9-1 major decision at 157 before the highly anticipated redshirt freshman standout, LJ Araujo, pinned No. 9 Max Brignola in 5:56. 

At 174, No. 4 Christopher Minto defeated Zeke Dubler with an 11-2 major decision before No. 6 Silas Allred won a 4-2 decision over No. 21 Rylan Rogers. No. 6 Camden McDanel added four more points to the Husker lead after defeating No. 28 JT Davis at 197 in a major decision, 15-6. 

No. 2 AJ Ferrari closed out the dual at heavyweight with a tech. fall, 19-4, over Calvin Lachman to put the Big Red up 35-7.

The Huskers continue action at the National Duals against No. 11 Michigan in the quarterfinal round. The matchup between the Big Red and Wolverines is set for 5 p.m. this evening, with all matches streamed on FloWrestling.
