Major Dawn Wellein served as the POW/MIA Chair Sentinel on October 4, 2025 as Nebraska Football took on Michigan State.
Dawn started her military career enlisting in Lincoln with the Army Reserves and also the UNL Army ROTC Big Red Battalion. She graduated in 1998 and was commissioned into the Army the same day. Dawn served over 12 years active duty as a Communications Officer in various locations all over the world and a deployment for Operation Iraqi Freedom II, earning numerous awards for her leadership and combat experience. Dawn, who was accompanied by her husband Steve, are proud Army Combat Veterans.
