Maisie Gilford will return to the Nebraska women’s swimming and diving team as an addition to the 2026-27 roster.
Gilford, a senior from Newcastle-under-Lyme, England, was a significant contributor to the 2024-25 Huskers, swimming legs of three school-record relays at the Big Ten Championships. Coming from the University of Bath after her sophomore year, Gilford notched 17 top-five finishes, 14 of which were top-three showings.
At the conference championships in Columbus, Ohio, Gilford recorded the fourth-fastest time in NU history in the 50 free (22.61). Earlier in the season, she earned the sixth-fastest time in school history in the 100 free with a 49.51 and a fourth-place finish at the Hawkeye Invitational.
Before Nebraska, Gilford competed in the 2024 British Swimming Championships at the London Aquatics Centre where she swam in the 50 free (26.09), 200 free (2:03.77) and the 200 IM (2:23.31). She qualified for the 50-, 100- and 200-meter freestyle and the 200-meter IM for the championships, which served as Britain’s Olympic Trials.
Gilford was a two-time selection to the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll and a member of the 2025 Tom Osborne Citizenship Team.
