Huskers Finish Off Perfect Weekend in Michigan

ANN ARBOR, Mich. - The No. 1 Nebraska volleyball team swept its ninth match in a row, 25-18, 25-13, 25-18 at Michigan on Sunday afternoon. 

Nebraska (18-0, 8-0 Big Ten) has won 28 sets in a row, its longest streak since winning 30 sets in a row in 2010. The Huskers are a perfect 24-0 in Big Ten sets this season. Michigan fell to 12-7 (2-6 Big Ten). 

The match was played in front of a crowd of 12,707 - the first ever sold-out volleyball match at the Crisler Center. It shattered Michigan's previous attendance school record of 8,137 in 2017 against Ohio State. It also marks the 19th different arena attendance record Nebraska has been part of since Volleyball Day in Nebraska in 2023.

The Huskers hit .390 and held the Wolverines to .079. The Big Red has hit better than .300 in nine straight matches. 

Harper Murray led the Huskers with nine kills in her return to her hometown. Andi Jackson had eight kills (.800) and six blocks, and Taylor Landfair had an efficient seven kills (.429) with three blocks. Virginia Adriano also had seven kills (.333) and three blocks, as Nebraska finished with 13 in the match. 

Bergen Reilly dished out 28 assists and had eight digs. Olivia Mauch and Laney Choboy had seven and six digs, respectively. 

NU had a 40-32 advantage in kills, 36-26 in digs and 13-6 in blocks. 

Set 1: Michigan started strong with a 5-2 lead. Nebraska grabbed its first lead at 9-8, but the Wolverines regained an 11-10 lead. Murray pounded back-to-back kills, and Mauch served an ace before a Reilly and Jackson block made it 14-11 Huskers. Two Michigan kills trimmed the lead to one, but Murray served a 7-0 run that put NU up 21-13. Jackson had two kills and a block with Reilly, while Landfair had two kills and Murray had a kill along with a diving dig that led to a Landfair kill. Nebraska grabbed a 23-14 lead before a 4-0 Michigan run, but the Huskers closed out a 25-18 win with a block by Allick and Adriano.  

Set 2: A kill each by Murray and Jackson and a block by that duo helped NU go up 5-1. The Wolverines answered with three straight points to get within 5-4, but Reilly served a 7-0 run that put NU in control, 15-7. Allick had two kills and a solo block, while Adriano added a kill. Another kill by the freshman from Italy was followed by a back-row kill by Teraya Sigler that made it 17-8. NU closed the set on a 6-2 run to win 25-13. Landfair and Jackson combined for a pair of blocks, and Murray had a kill while Allick had another solo block. Nebraska hit .400 in the set and held Michigan to -.185. 

Set 3: The Huskers led 11-6, but the Wolverines cut the lead down to one. Adriano had a solo block and a kill, and Jackson tallied a solo block and a kill as well as NU went up 18-12. Kills by Jackson and Landfair around an ace by Murray made it 21-14, and Landfair, Adriano and Manaia Ogbechie added kills down the stretch as the Big Red swept, 25-18. 

Up Next: Nebraska returns home for two matches next weekend. The Huskers host Northwestern on Friday at 6 p.m. and Michigan State on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. The Friday match against Northwestern will be Nebraska's annual "Pink Match."
