The Nebraska cross country teams will head back to Columbia Mo. for Pre-Nationals. Races are set for Friday, Oct. 17th. The women’s 6k will begin at 10 a.m. (CT) with the men’s 8k to follow at 10:45 a.m. (CT).
Last Time Out
The Huskers last raced in the Gans Creek Classic in Columbia Mo. where the men took 16th in the 8k. They were led by Rico Leijenaar, who placed 31st with a time of 24:14.2. He was followed by Denny Chapman (71st, 24:35.8) and Grant Wasserman (108th, 24:51.0). Gabe Nash finished next for the Huskers in 150th place with a time of 25:09.3. He was followed by Kaleb Sharp (191st, 25:36.1) to round out the Huskers’ top five.
The women raced next and placed 16th in the team 6k. Across the line first for the women was Ali Bainbridge (34th, 20:07.4). Next in for the Huskers was Berlyn Schutz (54th, 20:21.5), followed by Alea Hardie (98th, 20:50.1). Rounding out the scoring line up was Alexandra Joyce in 105th place with a time of 20:53.8 and Jaylee Wingate in 165th place with a time of 21:29.4.
Pre-Nationals Information
This meet is an opportunity for athletes to get a preview of the Nationals course for the given year. As the National meet moves around each year it is helpful for runners to be best prepared for what is to come.
