LINCOLN, Neb. - The No. 1 Nebraska volleyball team posted a 25-14, 25-18, 25-16 sweep of Washington on Friday in front of a crowd of 8,769 at John Cook Arena at the Bob Devaney Sports Center.
The Huskers improved to 15-0 (5-0 Big Ten) with their 53rd straight home win. Washington fell to 7-8 (2-3 Big Ten).
Harper Murray had a match-high 12 kills and hit .407 with seven digs and three blocks. Andi Jackson had 10 kills and hit .562 with two blocks, and Virginia Adriano had nine kills and a pair of blocks. Rebekah Allick and Taylor Landfair each had seven kills. Allick posted eight blocks and Landfair had four, as the Huskers finished with 10 as a team.
Bergen Reilly put up 34 assists and nine digs. Olivia Mauch led the Big Red with 12 digs. Laney Choboy added six.
Nebraska had a strong serving night with six aces and just one error. Mauch had two of the aces, while Reilly, Adriano, Murray and Teraya Sigler all had one.
The Huskers hit .307 and held the Huskies to .147.
Nebraska has played 10 straight sets without allowing an opponent to reach 20 points.
Set 1: Adriano served an early 4-0 run that included a kill and an ace by the freshman. Allick recorded three kills and had a block with Landfair, who also had a kill, as the Huskers went up 13-4. Adriano added two more kills, and Murray put down another for a 17-7 lead. Jackson and Landfair notched kills before an Allick and Landfair block put NU ahead 22-12. Reilly dumped a kill, and Adriano finished out the set at 25-14 with back-to-back kills. Nebraska hit .500 in the opening set.
Set 2: The Huskers put together a 4-1 run to go ahead 11-7. Jackson had a kill and a block with Landfair, while Murray added a kill. Allick added another kill and a block with Murray, and Murray put the Big Red up 15-12 at the media timeout. Jackson and Murray combined for three more kills for a 19-15 advantage, and Allick and Landfair added another block before a Landfair kill made it 23-17. NU finished off a 25-18 win.
Set 3: Nebraska began the set with an Allick kill and back-to-back aces by Mauch. Sigler, Jackson and Landfair notched kills to put the Huskers up 8-2. Washington clawed back to within 9-7, but Allick was in on two blocks, and Murray, Adriano and Jackson tacked on kills to keep the Huskers ahead, 14-9. Murray recorded a kill and an ace, and a kill by Landfair had NU up six, 18-12. Adriano and Allick combined for a block, and another Landfair kill made it 21-14. NU went on to win 25-16.
