Nebraska Set For Home Match Against Blazers

The No. 11 Nebraska rifle team will face off against UAB on Saturday, Oct. 11. The match is set to begin at 8 a.m. (CT) and will be hosted at the Nebraska Rifle Range in Lincoln, Neb. Attendance is free for fans, and live results can be found here. Live video can be found here.

Nebraska defeated No. 12 Ohio State 4,729-4,688 in its season opener on Sept. 27, a record-setting day for the Big Red. As a team, NU shot the second-highest aggregate score in program history with its score of 4,729, and shot the highest team air rifle score in program history with a mark of 2,386. Freshman Katlyn Sullivan shot a single-game individual record in the air rifle with a score of 599.

“After a good start to the season, the team has remained focused at practice, continuously pushing to better themselves on the line,” said Head Coach Richard Clark. “With their hard work we have continued to see great improvements on the range, making us excited to go out and compete again this Saturday. That being said, this will also be our first test to see how the team manages chasing the performance opposed to the score from our first match. If they go out, stick to their fundamentals and perform the way they know how to, I think we will see some really great things again from this group.”

UAB enters the match at 1-0, coming off a 4,593-4,500 win at Wofford on Sept. 27. The Huskers have faced off against the Blazers seven times since 2000, and have won all seven of those matches. NU most recently defeated UAB, 4,731-4,575, on Jan. 25 of this year.

Following the match against UAB, the Big Red will head to West Point, N.Y. to take on No. 2 Kentucky and No. 14 Army on Saturday, Oct. 25. The following day, Nebraska will face off against Mount Aloysius, Kentucky and UAB.
