The Nebraska men’s and women’s cross country teams will compete at the Platte River Rumble this Friday, Sept. 5 at Mahoney State Park in Ashland, Neb. The women’s 5k is scheduled to start at 6 p.m. (CT) with the men’s 6k to follow at 6:45 p.m. (CT).
Meet History
The Huskers last competed in the Platter River Rumble in 2023, when the men placed second and the women brought home first.
What to Watch
Heading into the first meet of the season, the Husker women are led by junior Ali Bainbridge. She returns after representing the Big Red at the 2024 NCAA Championships, where she placed 76th and earned Second-Team All-Big Ten and NCAA All-Midwest Region honors. Alongside Bainbridge are 12 other women, including eight freshmen.
Sophomore Rico Leijenaar leads 10 Husker men, including eight returners and two newcomers, after being named a Big Ten Preseason Runner to Watch.
