Nebraska's Rudy Sautron captured the second Big Ten Men's Golfer-of-the-Week award of his career when the conference announced its weekly honor on Thursday, Sept. 25.
Sautron, a junior from Reunion Island, France, smashed the Nebraska tournament record with a three-round total of 200 (-13) on his way to a share of the individual title at the Git-R-Done Invitational at Firethorn Golf Club in Lincoln (Sept. 22-23). His final-round 64 (-7) on the par-71, 7,102-yard layout at Firethorn matched the best round by a junior in school history (Brady Schnell, 2005-06) and was just one stroke off his own school-record 63 (-9) set last year at the Steelwood Collegiate in Alabama.
Sautron's performance helped Nebraska claim its first team tournament title since 2012 with a school-record 54-hole total of 823 (-29). The team score smashed the previous school record by 13 strokes.
Sautron won his first Big Ten Golfer-of-the-Week award just over a year ago (Sept. 12, 2024) following a tournament title at the 2024-25 season-opening Gopher Invitational while making his Nebraska debut.
Sautron and the Huskers will enjoy a few weeks off from competition before returning to action at the Purdue Fall Invitational in West Lafayette, Ind. (Oct. 13-14).
