Huskers Continue Fall Camp with Friday Practice

The Nebraska football team continued fall camp with a Friday practice inside the Hawks Championship Center and outside on the Gass practice fields.

Following practice, assistant coach Glenn Thomas met with members of the media to discuss where the team is at through nearly two weeks of fall camp and specifically, the quarterbacks.

“We’re through 10 or 11 practices now," Thomas said. "So, it’s been pretty fluid particularly with the second group with quarterbacks. We'll try to equal the reps as much as we can. Not necessarily have a set plan going into it, just try to [have] consistency of reps so everybody gets an equal opportunity to show what they can do.”

Thomas talked about how the quarterbacks help to make each other better while upholding the standard of the position.

“They’ve been really complementary of each other, pushing each other, challenging each other and then there’s a friendship building within the room. It’s been a really positive culture right now," Thomas said. "It’s been ideal as far as reinforcing the standard is the standard. It doesn’t matter if Dylan’s in there or the fourth quarterback’s in there. The standard is you perform and you execute like the expectation that everybody on the field has. It’s ideal in that situation and everybody understands that and takes that seriously and once they’re in there, whether you get one or two reps, you need to compete at a high level.”

Thomas was also asked about how the wide receivers are performing thus far in fall camp.

“It’s been really good, and I think you can really see growth in that this fall camp," Thomas said. "With obviously some new guys coming in in spring knocking off some rust and coming through the summer with what they’re doing now it’s been really, really good. Conceptually we have what we have and now it’s the variations of those concepts, and I think there is a comfort level not only with Dylan to the receivers but with the receivers to Dylan.”

Nebraska will continue fall camp with another practice on Saturday, with head coach Matt Rhule set to address the media following practice.
