Three Huskers Earn Big Ten Weekly Honors

Three Nebraska volleyball student-athletes were awarded weekly honors from the Big Ten Conference on Tuesday. With just three Big Ten teams beginning their season over the past weekend, the Huskers collected three of the four awards.

Bergen Reilly was named Big Ten Setter of the Week for the 10th time in her career; Rebekah Allick was named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week for the third time, and Virginia Adriano was chosen Big Ten Freshman of the Week for the first time.

Reilly had 10.86 assists per set and 2.71 digs per set in leading the Huskers to two top 10 wins over No. 3 Pitt and No. 6 Stanford. Reilly opened the season with a double-double of 40 assists and 10 digs in a 3-1 win against Pitt. She also had three blocks, one kill and one ace. The two-time Big Ten Setter of the Year followed up on Sunday with 36 assists and nine digs along with four kills and three blocks in a sweep of Stanford. Reilly set the Huskers to a .385 hitting percentage, Nebraska's best hitting percentage against a ranked team since 2016.

Allick posted 1.71 blocks per set to go along with 2.86 kills per set and a .406 hitting percentage in the Huskers' two wins at the AVCA First Serve. She began the season with seven blocks and nine kills in the win against Pitt and recorded five more blocks with 11 kills on .600 hitting in the sweep of Stanford. Allick was named MVP of Sunday's match against the Cardinal and, along with libero Laney Choboy, was named to the AVCA All-First Serve Team on Tuesday.

In her first ever collegiate match against No. 3 Pitt, Adriano posted six kills and three blocks, which helped the Big Red hold Pitt to a .111 hitting percentage in the 3-1 Husker win.
