Former Nebraska women's basketball player Jaz Shelley was named Australia NBL1 South Most Valuable Player on Friday, Aug. 15.

The 5-9 guard from Moe, Australia, has led Geelong United to an unbeaten season through 24 games, ranking 15th in the league in scoring (20.1 ppg) and seventh in the league in assists (6.2 apg) while leading NBL1 South in steals (3.54 spg). She also ranked fourth in the league in three-pointers made per game (3.25), while adding 7.3 rebounds per contest from her guard position over 24 games.

Shelley's season-long performance has fueled Geelong United to tomorrow's NBL1 South Championship Game against the Knox Raiders.

In addition to Shelley earning first-team All-NBL1 South honors, former Husker teammate Isabelle Bourne added second-team All-NBL1 South accolades. The 6-2 forward from Canberra, Australia, ranked second in NBL1 South in scoring (22.9 ppg) and 11th in rebounding (9.4 rpg), while adding 2.5 assists, 1.2 blocks and 1.1 steals per game for the Keilor Thunder, who went 16-6 during the regular season.
