Holgorsen Discusses Husker Offense Prior to Saturday Scrimmage

Nebraska football offensive coordinator Dana Holgorsen talked to the media about what he has seen so far in fall camp and what is yet to come in the up-coming scrimmage.

“We have gone through a lot of situations, which has been excellent," Holgorsen said. “I have to see if we can sustain a drive now. We really haven’t sustained drives because it's all been situational stuff. What we’re really trying to get accomplished tomorrow is getting the three groups out there to see if we can get first downs on third down and critical downs and be able to sustain drives.”

Holgorsen spoke on the team’s mindset and physicality.

“We just keep harping on routine plays, routine plays, routine plays, and those turn into big plays. We’ve been explosive at times which I haven’t seen since I’ve been here,” he said. “It’s coming together and I think they’re all buying into it. This has been a hard camp but those guys are doing a good job of getting their bodies ready to get out there and play.”

Holgorsen was also asked about the receivers’ ability to effectively block on the perimeter.

“I have been very pleased with it,” he said. “We’ve worked on it a lot. When we say physicality and toughness, we’re not just talking about the o-line, but everyone. Even the quarterback has to play with physicality and toughness. I’m happy with where it's at and we’ve had a lot of perimeter drills and a lot of 1-on-1 blocking. Those guys know how important it is.”
