Ann Arbor, Mich.- Nebraska earned its first title in two years with Yanni Chronopoulos grabbing gold on rings at the Big Ten Championship individual finals on Saturday night. The Huskers managed to get the top four finishes on still rings for the first time in program history. Eleven Husker gymnasts competed for their chance at Big Ten individual titles, and the Big Red tied the 2025 team Big Ten Champion Michigan Wolverines for the most gymnasts competing at the meet.
Christopulos’ performance in the All-Around competition earned him first-team All-Big Ten honors alongside still rings event title winner Chronopoulos. Cohen, Hiser, Pepe and York were named to the second-team All-Big Ten Honors for their podium finishes.
Junior Nathan York hit a career-high on the floor for a 13.975 for a silver medal, improving on his third-place spot at last year’s championships. Luke James earned the fourth slot, scoring a 13.70. Chase Mondi earned a 13.20 for ninth and Taylor Christopulos had a 13.05 for the last spot on the floor. Ohio State’s Jesse Pakele had the first spot with a 14.075.
Nebraska earns grabbed the top four spots on the podium on still rings. Yanni Chronopoulos won Nebraska’s first Big Ten still ring title with a 13.95 and a stick. The last conference title was won by Ted Harris in 1997. Asher Cohen hit a 13.95 for the second-place finish. Chris Hiser followed him in third with a 13.85 and Christopulos hit his second career high of the weekend with a 13.80 on the apparatus for fourth. James Friedman scored a 13.275 for tenth on the rings.
Mondi and James competed on vault for the Huskers. Mondi placed fourth, scoring 14.375, and James placed eighth, scoring 13.95.
Joey Pepe was the only competitor for the Huskers on parallel bars. Pepe earned a bronze medal finish, scoring 13.85.
Christopulos racked up a 13.835 for a second-place finish on high bar. The regular season CGA All-American on the event earned his second honor on the weekend. Max Odden started off for the Huskers on high bar with a 13.675 for a fourth-place finish. Cole Partridge scored a 13.35 for seventh.
Nebraska will return to Ann Arbor for the NCAA Gymnastics Championships on April 18-19. The meet will be streamed on ESPN+.
