Baxter Named Big Ten Diver of the Week

Written byJeff Griesch

Lincoln - Nebraska's Abby Baxter captured Big Ten Diver-of-the-Week honors when the conference announced its awards on Wednesday, Jan. 22.

Baxter, a sophomore from Coppell, Texas, swept the one-meter and three-meter diving competitions in Nebraska's 174.5-125.5 Big Ten dual win over Illinois at the Devaney Natatorium on Jan. 18.

Baxter posted a winning score of 297.00 on the one-meter board, before recording a 319.20 on the three-meter dive to complete the sweep for the Big Red. Baxter, who also swept the one- and three-meter events in a dual win over Iowa State earlier this season, owns five event titles for the Huskers this year.

It marks the second time in her career that Baxter has been named the Big Ten Diver of the Week, joining her award on Jan. 31, 2024, which she also claimed after sweeping the diving events in a dual win over Illinois (Jan. 27, 2024) in Champaign.

Baxter becomes Nebraska's second winner of a Big Ten weekly award this season, joining swimmer Gena Jorgenson (Oct. 30).
