Senior guard Brice Williams received his second weekly honor on Tuesday afternoon, as he was one of five Oscar Robertson National Players of the Week for games ending Dec. 15.
Williams was joined on this week’s list by Lamont Butler (Kentucky), Tarence Guinyard (UT Martin), Jamichael Stillwell (Milwaukee) and Taryn Todd (Arkansas State) as the USBWA continues its national player of the week program that has been affiliated with the Oscar Robertson Trophy since the 2009-10 season. Prior to last season, the USBWA had recognized just one player each week.
Williams received the weekly award for the second time in his career, as he received the weekly honor when he was at Charlotte on Jan. 3, 2023. Williams is the first Husker to win the weekly award.
Williams paced Nebraska with a season-high 30 points, along with a season-high six rebounds and five assists in NU’s 85-68 win over Indiana on Dec. 13. A 6-foot-7 senior guard from Huntersville, N.C., Williams was 10-of-15 from the field and 8-of-11 from the foul line en route to posting his fourth career 30-point game and first as a Husker. He scored nine of his 30 points in the final 6:30 after Indiana closed to within 68-67. Williams became just the second Husker in the Big Ten era (2011-12 to present) to have 30 points and five assists in a game, joining Teddy Allen who did it during the 2020-21 campaign.
On the season, Williams is averaging 18.9 points per game on 50 percent shooting and has four 20-point games for the Huskers, who are 7-2 heading into this week’s Hawaiian Airlines Diamond Head Classic
