For the first time in history, the Big Ten is hosting a nationwide blood donation competition. Healthcare company Abbott and the Big Ten Conference’s “The We Give Blood Drive” is aimed at alleviating current blood shortages, cultivating the next generation of blood donors and saving thousands of lives along the way.
The winning school with the most blood donations from students, alumni or fans across the country will be announced at the Discover Big Ten Championship Game on December 7 in Indianapolis. If Nebraska wins, the University will be awarded a $1 million prize to advance student or community health from Abbott.
Nebraska's blood drive is set for Wednesday, November 6 at Memorial Stadium, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. (CT). Attendees can enter through the West Stadium, and donations will take place on the third floor.
To participate in the competition, donate blood anywhere – including on campus on Nov. 6 – and visit BigTen.Org/Abbott/Submit to upload proof of donation and select Nebraska to have your donation count for our school.
